Snack today & part of my lunch tomorrow. Asparagus drizzled with olive oil & some seasoning salt. Baked in tin foil, in the oven on 400, for 10 minutes. It’s crunchy, flavorful, & healthier than some of the other things I could have eaten.
Back on the wagon….
I admit it. This blog & my routine have been lacking. Not only lacking, completely non-existant. Ever since my husband got home from deployment (back in November) I’ve fallen off the health wagon. He wanted to eat everything & everywhere he couldn’t while he was overseas. He’s very fit so it doesn’t affect him like it affects me. Then April 2nd I started school. It took awhile to get into a routine of being in school again but I’ve made the decision that since my skinny jeans no longer look like skinny jeans, it’s time to get back into a routine.
Starting Monday, 5/21/2012, I’ll be hitting the gym 5 nights a week for an hour & a half. I already went to the grocery store & picked up even healthy foods to last me an entire week. I’m going to start dedicating Sunday nights to getting my weekly meals ready.
One of the best parts is- all my healthy food (tilapia, salmon, boston lettuce, spinach, asparagus, strawberries, apples, sweet potatoes, egg whites) only cost me $24 & I do have enough to last an entire week. So if you wanna make a life change, you gotta commit & that’s what I’ve doing.
Starting school tomorrow (April 2nd) at Paul Mitchell. The school is located right by a ton of fast food restaurants & one of the very best Mexican restaurants in this area. I’m getting in the habit of making a weeks worth of lunches on Sunday. This is what a typical days lunch will look like.
Not only will this keep me from packing on the pounds but it’ll save me money as well.
I’ve been on a search for a really delicious coconut water. This is a good one. I love the peach & mango.
Saw this on a tumblr & thought it was a good thing to share. An easy way to keep yourself motivated. I’d use inches instead of lbs if possible.
Lunch: tomato & mayo sandwich with 1 cup of progresso hearty chicken pot pie soup. It’s a rainy, cold day & this is the perfect meal.

I bought this Starbucks insulated cup awhile back but it’s perfect for on the go. Bolt house green goodness on ice.

Dinner: 2 jenni-o turkey burgers topped with sharp cheddar & deli mustard. I’m drinking green tea & water.
Normally I would have had steamed broccoli, green beans, carrots, or a salad but today was cheat day. I had a Krispy Kreme donut for breakfast & taco bell for lunch. I figured going easy on dinner was the best bet.
Healthier alternative to chips. I’ve had the veggie & apple straws but these take the cake! One of my biggest weaknesses is BBQ chips but these are so much better! I’ll never go back to chips!
Bolt house farms green goodness. Tastes exactly like Naked: green machine. They sell double packs at SAM’s club for $5.98.
I saved the Naked bottle so I’d have a to-go container. I never thought I’d like the green juice but it’s so delish!
MyFitness Pal:
I’ve been using this free iPhone app to keep track of my calories in vs calories out. It really helps me stay focused on what I’m eating & how much I’m eating. It’s hard when you go out to eat (unless a restaurant has a nutrition menu or the restaurant’s food is already logged in the app) to keep track of the calories you ate but I just wing it. I don’t eat out a lot so I’ve only had to wing it once.
I really am loving this app because I’ve been reading labels, keeping track of portions, & really paying attention to how I can get the most out of my calorie intake.
It’s a free app so check it out. I’ll start posting screen shots.
Naked: Green Machine. This stuff is surprisingly delish. I’m going to see if they have this at Sam’s club so I can stock up on it. I know it would be just as effective to make my own green power juice but until I find a recipe I really like (& doesn’t taste like junk) then I’m okay with the naked brand.
Date night dinner: Aspen Creek. I chose the pan-seared salmon with honey & lime, sweet potato casserole, & buttered corn. I ate all of my salmon & sweet potato casserole but only half the corn. By the time I finished the salmon I was actually pretty full. I opted to skip dessert.
